Stretch Tutu Price Guidelines
Stretch tutus are a great choice for younger dancers who are just starting out and are still growing. Stretch tutus will usually last a growing dancer around 2 years and are more cost conscience than a traditional tutu. Our tutus are made from stiff Italian ballet net and stretch lycra. The bodices are lined to give a firm fit and to help the dancer feel confident. Each tutu skirt has 8-10 layers of net that are hand tacked together and hooped in the 4th layer to give structure and maintain the shape and lift of the tutu for years to come.
A basic competition-ready tutu starts at $400 and includes a lined bodice, 8-10 layer skirt and appliques for the bodice and skirt. Other features are available (listed below) and have an additional fee. Some prices may vary depending on fabrics and advanced embellishment techniques.
Traditional Tutu Price Guidelines
A traditional tutu is suited to dancers who are done growing or who want a more traditional look.
Our tutus are made from stiff Italian ballet net and fabrics such as bengalines, taffetas, brocades or other stable fabrics that provide the proper structure for a tailored bodice. The bodice is piped at top and bottom edge and the bodice point is not sewn down but boned with flat plastic to keep in place and elastic placed at the waistband of the basque to allow movement. The side fronts are boned with flexible spiral steel to allow movement but keep the bodice from wrinkling. The tutu skirt is built onto a separate basque that secures it to the dancer’s waist and has 9-10 layers of net that are hand-tacked. The tutu is fastened at the back with #3 and #6 hooks and bars. A hoop casing is included on row 4 and all classical skirts come hooped.
A basic competition-ready tutu starts at $550 and includes a boned bodice, 9-10 layer hooped skirt and appliques for the bodice and skirt. Other features are available (listed below) and have an additional fee. Some prices may vary depending on fabrics and advanced embellishment techniques.
